More about the Viewer
Viewer Screen
Model Geolocation is displayed in the upper left of the viewer.
The map’s daytime and date range are displayed on the line below geolocation.
The Sunscape® Map legend is on the left. The legend is segmented into colors that indicate sun exposure.
A North indicator is located bottom right and changes with map orientation.
A curser related sun exposure indicator is located bottom left.
The indicator reads “no data” when the cursor is positioned on a non-mapped area of the model.
Note: Maps are segmented into sun exposure based on the sunlight received during the timespan and date range of the map.
Viewer Function Toolbar - located at the top of the Viewer.
Load, to select a model for import.
Save, to save Sunscape® Viewer images.
Exit, for exiting and closing the Viewer.
View Menu - located on the right, provides tools for interacting with maps in the Sunscape® Viewer:
Top and Cardinal Direction, use cube faces, and circle segments (hover to turn blue then click) for snap-to camera views.
Edges, to view model object edges, click ‘Default’ to turn Edges off.
2-sided rendering, select to see 2D objects from all viewing perspectives. (Ecoscape models do not have 2D objects)
Sunscape® Map queue lists maps with date range and timespan labels, click to bring the map to the Viewer.
Perspective
Models are brought to the Viewer in the original file perspective.
Maps are brought to the Viewer in the perspective of the previous map. This makes it easy to compare area sun exposure by toggling between different timespan and date range maps without having to readjust the perspective for each map.
If your mouse action appears ‘unstable’ click on the cube top face in the right-side View Menu. This will change perspective to a top view of the model and initialize your mouse.
If the process of moving, zooming, and orbiting gets you into an awkward view of the model that is difficult to remedy, simply ‘Exit’ the Viewer, and ‘Start’ again.
